That's exactly what happened when I watched a documentary (yes, always a dangerous thing to do...) about the fashion industry. The documentary showed how today's fashion is not designed to last, care for the planet, or the people who are making the clothes we wear every day. It showed how this 'fast fashion' was making more waste than we could dispose of, more pollutants than we can clean, and keeping more people in poverty than we could ever fathom... And in todays world being environmentally conscious is the thing to do/be. And that's a very good thing! But the part that really got me was watching how men, women and even children are making clothes that I would buy without a second thought, and these people were working in the worst conditions, and going home with essentially nothing. They couldn't feed their families properly. They couldn't improve their living conditions. They couldn't leave their jobs because they needed the money, but the wages weren't good enough to live on. It is a horrendous and seemingly unbreakable cycle. But the thought hit me... "what if that was me? What if I couldn't feed my family? What if my kids couldn't enjoy nice gifts at Christmas and their birthdays?" I'd feel like a failure, even though the problem wasn't of my own making. I'd feel responsible even though I was doing everything to keep my family afloat.

That, right there, kills me inside. Knowing that's what some people are going through everyday so that we can pay cheap prices for our clothes, wear them for five minutes and then chuck them in the bin. Or even worse, some guys are getting paid £millions$ for sitting around in board meetings while workers, who make the clothes what they are, can't even feed their families properly. And we are seemingly okay with it because it's happening to someone else on the other side of the world...

That's where the idea was birthed.

"paragraph1":
paragraph2":
paragraph3":
